Understanding Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry

At NYCPros, we bring the artistry of tooth creation together with the science of functionality to create optimal, beautiful results in esthetic and restorative dentistry. This balance of art and science is the essence of prosthodontics. Working with our on-site lab technicians, your prosthodontist will design custom-made ceramic restorations that elevate your smile, look natural, and fit beautifully. Our goal is always a healthy, bright, symmetrical smile that looks like it has always been your own.

Frequently asked questions

Veneers are thin, hand finished ceramic facets that are so versatile they can create a subtle esthetic change or completely transform the look of your teeth. In just two visits, you can have a beautiful, bright, symmetrical smile that is so natural, it will look like it was always your own.

Veneers can be designed to enhance the color, shape and even the arch form of your smile. Based on the esthetic consultation with your prosthodontist, our ceramists custom make veneers in our in-house lab just for you. If you have unwanted spaces, teeth that appear short, uneven, chipped, or stained, veneers can be the perfect solution for you.

A same day crown is a full coverage ceramic restoration and can be an ideal solution when a sizable portion of a tooth is lost to decay or fracture. In just one visit, your damaged tooth is prepared, a digital impression taken by camera, and your crown digitally designed and created in our lab.

Our same-day process means no weeks of waiting, no temporary crown and no uncomfortable impressions. Instead, you get a precisely fit, natural looking ceramic crown custom created just for you.

Ceramic inlays and onlays are custom designed to replicate and replace the exact portion of your tooth lost to decay or fracture. In just one visit, your natural tooth is prepared, a digital impression taken by camera, and your inlay or onlay designed and created in our lab.

We create inlays and onlays with strict attention to detail to ensure a perfect fit with your natural tooth. We match color and texture precisely to your adjacent teeth so the inlays/onlays virtually disappear into your smile.

If you break your tooth, have a large cavity or want to replace old silver fillings, ceramic inlays and onlays can be the right solution. They restore functionality, strengthen the damaged tooth, and add to the overall brightness and beauty of your smile.

A ceramic bridge is a multi-tooth restoration that replaces a lost or missing tooth when an implant is not an option. The replacement tooth is anchored to the two adjacent teeth by creating a three or more unit set of attached crowns in ceramic.

With today’s ceramics and esthetic techniques, a bridge provides the needed function while naturally matching the surrounding teeth. Since our bridges are fabricated with ceramic, they are a healthy, bio-compatible option with no unsightly line of metal peeking out from the gumline.

Sometimes a tooth requires nothing more than a recontouring or small filling. When a small amount of decay occurs that doesn’t involve a significant portion of the tooth structure, the affected area can be restored with a composite, or bonded, filling. This filling is made of a tooth-colored material that is durable and functional – and that blends esthetically with your natural tooth.

Tooth whitening in our office is supervised by your prosthodontist and can be an essential part of your personal program for maintaining a healthy and beautiful smile. In one visit, whitening improves the esthetics of your smile by brightening and lightening your teeth.

Tooth whitening can also provide oral health benefits. Whitening gel has antibacterial properties that help balance the pH of your oral cavity against periodontal disease and decay while producing an overall cleansing effect as stains on the enamel are removed.

Icon Smooth Surface™ to treat fluorosis aka “white spots”

If you have white spots on your teeth due to fluorosis or trauma, traditional whitening may not be an ideal solution. One in-office treatment with Icon Smooth Surface™ can deliver a beautiful result by reducing the appearance of white spots and evening out the surface color of a tooth.
